A Watched Pot Never Boils
After living 47 years I've realized one thing...that I still have a lot to learn.
I have 2 kids, my daughter is 22 and my son is 20. I've learned for the most part, to stay out of their affairs and not watch their pots so much. I guess looking back at when I was in my early 20's, my mother never watched my pot and the pot boiled over a couple of times. But thankfully, nobody got hurt. A couple burns, but they healed okay.
It's about letting go of Young Adults, who used to be your "young ones" and let them be. Respecting their idiosyncracies, supporting them even when you don't "agree" with them and letting them know that if they need a place to land, that they can always fly home for a while.
I'm not their sister, their homie or their BFF. I am Mom... and I am still learning.
